Welcome... to Monroe Bay.

Just kidding, there’s more here than just that. Also, I live in San Antonio.

I was a soldier for twenty years and hold a bachelor’s degree in creative writing and a Master’s in American Military History. I definitely have AD-HD and am probably Autistic as well, but who knows??

About Me

I’ve been a fantasy geek for as long as I can remember, the nerdier the better. Growing up I created worlds in my head for entertainment and to escape into when life was boring, unpleasant, or both. I joined the Army upon turning 18 and saw a predictable increase in my daydreaming as the number of boring and/or unpleasant days also increased. I finished my first novel (The Monster of Monroe Bay) shortly before leaving the service and have since started two more, completely unrelated stories.

My Mission

I feel like the writing process is something of an inverted pyramid in regards to how fun it is. The start, when I’m dreaming up new worlds and thinking of characters and plots, is, by far, the most fun part. As the process goes on it gets less enjoyable and begins to look a lot more like work. On the flip side though, the further we go the more I get to share this joy with others. Dreaming up new worlds is infinitely more fun than getting rejected time after time trying to publish a story, but I’m the only one who gets to experience that joy. The end result may be less fun for me, but, assuming it all works out, I get to share the joy I had in creating these worlds with (hopefully) thousands of, if not more, other people. So, that’s my mission, I guess. I’m not looking for fame and I don’t need the money, although I wouldn’t say no to either. I’m not trying to cure cancer or solve world hunger.(Although, again, I wouldn’t be opposed.)  I’ve found something in my imagination that I think is pretty cool, and I’d like to share it.
